DOD FINALIZES CMMC RULE, MAKING CYBERSECURITY COMPLIANCE AN ENFORCEABLE CONTRACT REQUIREMENT
The DoD's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) acquisition rule has been cleared, making cybersecurity compliance an imminent and enforceable contract requirement. Contracting officers can now mandate specific CMMC levels and verify a contractor's status in the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS), meaning non-compliant firms risk being deemed ineligible for contract awards.
NAVY CALLS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES TO ENHANCE MAVEN SMART SYSTEM DATA ACCESSIBILITY
The Navy is urging small businesses to develop tools for greater data accessibility from the Maven Smart System and similar platforms. Vice Adm. Karl Thomas stressed that ensuring data is not "vendor locked" is "job one". Maven is a DOD AI tool for processing imagery and video from UAVs, and the Navy will initially apply this effort to ship maintenance data.
ONEOMEGA SECURES $160M U.S. COAST GUARD CONTRACT
OneOmega won a $160 million U.S. Coast Guard contract to provide information assurance and support services. This small business set-aside contract focuses on ensuring compliance with the NIST Risk Management Framework, covering governance, risk and compliance, assessment, continuous monitoring, and cybersecurity operations to safeguard information systems and data.
US APPROVES POTENTIAL $825M AIR DELIVERED MUNITIONS SALE TO UKRAINE
The U.S. Department of State approved a potential $825 million foreign military sale allowing Ukraine to purchase air-delivered munitions and related equipment. This package includes up to 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles and GPS/Inertial Navigation Systems.
The sale, with principal contractors Zone 5 Technologies and CoAspire, aims to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and is funded by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and U.S. Foreign Military Financing.
ATAC SECURES $199.1M NAVY CONTRACT FOR AIRBORNE THREAT SIMULATION
Textron subsidiary ATAC secured a $.199.1 million Navy contract to provide airborne threat simulation capabilities using highly modified business jet aircraft for training and evaluation of weapon systems and aircrew, specifically against enemy stand-off jamming operations. The project is expected to conclude by October 2030.
WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES 1% PAY RAISE FOR MOST FEDERAL EMPLOYEES IN 2026
Most federal employees will receive a 1% pay raise in 2026, the smallest since 2021. Federal law enforcement officers will get a larger 3.8% raise, matching the military increase, to boost recruitment and retention. This increase was announced via an alternative pay plan, overriding
larger formulaic raises.
U.S. AIR FORCE SELECTS 15 COMPANIES FOR $995 MILLION OKINAWA CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
The U.S. Air Force has awarded 15 companies spots on a potential $995 million multiple-award construction contract for a broad range of projects across Okinawa, Japan. The contract, covering work on and off military installations, is expected to run through September 1, 2030.
